Why the 1966 red reference matters

England Football’s kit retrospective documents the red final shirt among its selected historic designs. That gives the colour a clear tournament association; it does not establish that every later red shirt has the same collar, construction or decoration.

If a particular match is the reason you want the shirt, compare a dated match reference with the actual item. A modern tribute and a period garment are different objects.
